The Zone

The Zone is not only filled with fun, educational and therapeutic activities that help children, but it also has plenty of resources for parents.

The Zone focuses on interactive play, computer and electronic gaming and relaxation to help children and their families cope with the anxiety that often accompanies a child’s hospital stay. Additionally, The Zone is home to "In the Zone TV," a programming channel at The Children’s Hospital that provides patients – specifically those patients who are unable to leave their hospital rooms – with educational, entertaining and interactive activities to reduce the stress of hospitalization. Look for ITZTV on channel 90.

The Zone is staffed by child life specialists trained in meeting the psychosocial needs of children in health care settings. The Zone provides a place for these specialists to work with the children on development activities and provide social and emotional support that the children and their families need.

The 5,000-square-foot Zone includes:

  • Children’s play space
  • Teen space
  • Infant and toddler play area
  • An outdoor garden
  • A theater
  • A space for community visitors

The Zone is located on the sixth floor across from the Ronald McDonald Family Room.
